Step-by-step Tips for Cleaning Your Bicycle

Installment 1: Why it’s Important to Clean Your Bicycle

You’ve made a substantial investment in your bicycle, and, just like other purchases, there are steps you can take to prolong the life of that investment and keep it operating at peak performance. Tetra® Bike Professional Bicycle Care makes maintenance easier and keeps bicycle operation at its peak through a full line of high-quality, professionally proven products. While proper lubrication with a premium synthetic product such as race-proven Tetra® Bike Lubricant is essential, that is a topic for an upcoming series of blogs. In this series of blogs, we’ll discuss cleaning your bicycle with high-quality Tetra® Bike products. We’re sure you’ll find that a well-cleaned bicycle not only looks better, but will operate better and last longer

A recommended schedule for bicycle cleaning depends on three factors:

1. How frequently you ride

2. The conditions of the surfaces you ride on

3. The climate in which you ride and store your bicycle

Cleaning should be performed, based on your riding frequency, on a regular basis: at least weekly for daily riders; monthly for “weekend warriors”; and every few months, or at the beginning and end of the riding season, for recreational riders. Additionally, if you’ve been riding in the rain, on particularly muddy run, or in areas subject to salt spray, to name just a few scenarios, then more regular cleaning may be necessary. The bottom line: as long as cleaning, rinsing, and drying are performed properly with quality products and plenty of clean water, you can never have your bike too clean.

In the next installment, we’ll discuss the parts of your bicycle and How to Get Started. In the meantime, take a look at the full line of Tetra® Bike care products on this website, and make sure to follow us on social media.
